He is the only principal clinical investigator in Connecticut who was invited to participate in all enrolled Phase 3 clinical trials of the new FDA-approved drug Eylea, which is now a frontline treatment for wet macular degeneration with potential for use for other blinding retinal diseases.ĭr. He is currently the principal investigator in several pioneering national clinical trials for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, vein occlusions and diabetic macular edema. His research has included topics in retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular holes, ocular trauma, endophthalmitis and ocular complications. Chaudhry has authored more than 90 papers and abstracts in peer-reviewed ophthalmology literature. He is also a scientific reviewer for the prestigious Archives of Ophthalmology and Retina.ĭr. He is board-certified in Ophthalmology and serves as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. Chaudhry is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Yale School of Medicine. This written exam is taken by thousands of American and international medical doctors every year prior to residency training.ĭr. Chaudhry also had the distinguished honor of being in the top one percentile for both parts of the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE). Bascom Palmer has been consistently named the best eye hospital in the United States by U.S. Chaudhry completed a second residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami, where he also finished his medical and surgical retina fellowship. This is usually given to Yale’s best senior ophthalmology resident, but he was awarded as a junior resident. He was awarded the Marvin Sears Award for Excellence in Clinical Ophthalmology. Chaudhry is a vitreo-retinal surgeon, completing his residency at the Yale Eye Center in New Haven where he served as chief resident.
He is also an active member of the prestigious, invitation-only Retina Society and Macula Society.ĭr. Nauman Chaudhry was presented the Honor Award by the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) for his academic contributions.
